Kicking Cravings to the Curb: A Step-by-Step Guide

Seriously! Switching to a healthier lifestyle can be just as challenging as it is rewarding and you choose to face that challenge head-on every day. But, as with every great journey, there will be inevitable road bumps that can make reaching your goals feel overwhelming. But it doesn’t have to be. With these steps, you can stop caving into cravings and start conquering your health goals with confidence.

Step 1: Identify your "why?"

Whether you have one reason or 200, it’s important to understand why you’ve chosen to change your lifestyle. Be your own source of motivation and choose incentives that are personal and relevant to your life. Write your reasons down and keep them close by. When you feel a slip up coming, use them to remind yourself what you’re working for — a happier, healthier you.

Step 2: Plan for success

Set aside one day a week to plan and prepare every meal and snack that you’ll need for the next seven days. While it might seem tedious at first, you’ll find it’s easier to stick to your diet plan when you’re not constantly asking yourself what you’re going to eat next. Plus, if the meal is already made there’s no room to justify eating out.

Step 3: The 3 Rs

You can’t give in to a craving you don’t have access to. Clear your home, office, and car of any snacks or food that don’t fit within your diet plan.

Replace your go-to snacks with healthy alternatives. Stock up on items like fruit, vegetables, and granola bars.
